Sunsets at Sea in the Med

A special thanks to Star Clipper Hotel Manager Steve Adamson for capturing these beautiful sunset photos.

Sunsets at sea are very special. After a long day at shore or in the sun it's time to wind down and reflect on the day.

These photos were taken from Star Clipper's deck as the ship sailed the last few weeks of the season in the Mediterranean.

Star Clipper begins the westbound ocean crossing Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014.

Chef Schönberger Wows on Star Clipper

Thanks to Star Clipper Hotel Manager Steve Adamson for sending in these great photos from Chef Schönberger's visit.

[caption id="attachment_16089" align="aligncenter" width="550"] Guests watch as Chef David Schoenberger prepares a dish.

Daniel Schönberger joined Star Clipper sailing out of Athens as a featured guest chef and "wowed" guests with his fabulous culinary displays.

Between stops at fabulous Greek ports, including Patmos, Amorgos, Mykonos, and Monemvasia, guests sampled expertly prepared dishes and fresh flavors.

[caption id="attachment_16087" align="aligncenter" width="550"] Bright and light food reflects the environment.

Demonstrations were held both on the deck and in the dining room and dishes echoed the bright and light style of Mediterranean cuisine as the ship sailed along the coast. Chef Schönberger even took time to answer questions and pose for photos as he dined alongside the guests.

[caption id="attachment_16086" align="aligncenter" width="550"] Plates were cleaned at every table as Chef Schönberger chatted with guests.

[caption id="attachment_16085" align="aligncenter" width="550"] Not too fancy to do a dish! Chef Schönberger washes up in the galley.

Stay tuned for more guest chefs and culinary experts throughout the year!

Cheers to the Crew!

The Star Clippers crew is considered to be among the friendliest at sea!

From the captain of each ship to the water sports crew and from the bartenders to the men and women raising the sails, this team is full of warm, welcoming and passionate individuals.

Below is an excerpt from a Cruise Critic review of the Star Clippers crew.

Ship: Star Clipper

Sail date: June, 2015

Destination: Greece

Embarkation Point: Athens (Piraeus)

The Captain of the ship was extremely passenger-attentive and allowed us deck access during sailing and, to some extent, during port entry and exit. We could help hoist sails if we wanted to and my, what a hard job that is even with 20 passengers pulling the sail lines. Land trips - all optional but with extra, reasonable cost - were very informative and led by good local guides. When steps or uneven ground could be a problem for those with walking or balance difficulties we were warned beforehand. Every member of the crew was absolutely accommodating and totally delightful to sail with. Other passengers are very collegial and many seemed like old friends by the end of the trip.

Crossing the Ocean

[caption id="attachment_16020" align="aligncenter" width="550"] Photo by guest Jan Gronbech.

Have you ever dreamed of getting away and chasing the sunset on a Star Clipper ship?

Ocean Crossings are an incredible opportunity to hang back and relax for an extended period of time. Sailings range from 9 to 22 days.

There is still space available on Star Clipper and Star Flyer's 2014 ocean crossing sailings.

Star Flyer will depart Malaga, Spain, Oct. 18, 2014. From there the ship calls at Tangier, Morocco; Cadiz, Spain; Funchal, Portugal; Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain; Santa Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain; and then head west, ultimately arriving at Bridgetown, Barbados, Nov. 9, 2014.

Star Clipper follows a similar route, departing Malaga, Spain, Nov. 1, 2014, with calls at Tangier, Casablanca and Safi, Morocco; and Arrecife and Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. From there Star Clipper sails west across the Atlantic until reaching Philipsburg, St. Maarten.

Magic Moment on Royal Clipper

These beautiful photos from the tender were submitted by Royal Clipper guest Jackie Reay.

"Captain Sergei, had the tenders out as the sun began to set 27 September 2014, the light was magical. The Tender Drivers and Crew did a magnificent job positioning the ship for great photo opportunities, and an amazing experience.

Thank you Royal Clipper and your wonderful Captain and Crew for another fabulous happy journey, Venice to Venice."
