Wednesday, Oct. 23 Star Clipper will call at Séte, in Southern France. Absolutely Southern France tweeted a nice welcome and we thought we'd take a moment to spotlight this lesser talked about port.

Séte is located roughly in between Marseille and Barcelona along the northern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, and is sometimes called the "Venice of France" due to the canal system that runs throughout the city. At first glance some say that it looks like any other coastal fishing town, but Séte is a seafood mecca. Marseille is credited with the creation of Bouillabaise, a fresh fish stew that is supremely French and distincltly Mediterranean, and Séte, just down the shore, shares many culinary traditions.

While at port many guests choose to take the Gourmet Walking Tour of Séte, hosted by an english-speaking tour guide, Nancy. The tour group strolls along the canals sampling local specialties and meeting merchants. Pastries, chocolates, cheeses and wines are highlighted, and the tour culminates at "les Halles", an authentic fish and seafood market at the harbor. Wednesdays are market days and offer a particularly special and vibrant view of the city.
The Gourmet Walking Tour has received excellent feedback on TripAdvisor, with many guests insisting that it is not to be missed.
